Premier League transfer news and rumours
English clubs missed the Mbappe ‘jackpot’
A new book has revealed that both Chelsea and Arsenal failed to sign Kylian Mbappe when he was a youngster, the Daily Star reports.
Mbappe, who starred for France in their World Cup victory this summer, spent a week on trial at Chelsea in 2011 and the then Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger met with his family to try to persuade the striker to sign for the Gunners.

In the book Mbappe, written by Luca Caioli and Cyril Collot, it says that Chelsea failed to “win the jackpot” while Arsenal “showed the greatest interest”. Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool also “argued their case” to secure his signing.
Now 19, Mbappe eventually signed for Monaco before making a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain last year. He scored for France in their 4-2 win against Croatia in the World Cup final in July.
Silva: City was ‘the right move’
David Silva says that choosing to sign for Manchester City was “one of the best decisions” he has ever made.
When the Spanish midfielder moved from Valencia to City in July 2010 he also had interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
In an interview with the BBC, he said: “City wanted me. They had been calling asking me to come and play for them. I thought, ‘who wants me? City want me, so that’s where I’ll go’. It turns out I made the right move.”
The Times reports that Silva could leave City in 2020 to join Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. Silva wants his son Mateo to grow up on his home island.
Rashford will fight for United place
England striker Marcus Rashford wants to stay at Manchester United. After scoring twice for the Three Lions this week Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher suggested that the 20-year-old may need to leave Old Trafford to fulfil his potential. However, a United source said: “Marcus loves the club and does not want to move but he wants to be a striker or at least play down the middle as a No.10. He is not going to give up trying to prove himself at United but he knows he may have a big decision to make soon.” (The Sun)
Mourinho ‘loses patience’ with Martial
While Marcus Rashford will stay at Manchester United, fellow forward Anthony Martial looks likely to leave Old Trafford. It’s reported that Jose Mourinho has “lost patience” with 22-year-old Martial, who is linked with Premier League rivals Tottenham and Arsenal. (Daily Express)
Raiola ‘promises’ Pogba move to La Liga
The future of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba remains uncertain after a summer of speculation. It’s reported that Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola told the French midfielder that he would secure him a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. (Daily Mirror)
Milan rivals target Fabregas
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is wanted by both Milan clubs, Inter and AC. The Spanish midfielder is out of contract next summer and the Serie A giants are preparing for a January battle for the 31-year-old’s signature. (Daily Express).
Terry rejects Spartak offer
Former Chelsea and England captain John Terry has turned down a contract offer from Spartak Moscow as it was not the “right move” for his family. The 37-year-old is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season. Villa are being linked with a move to re-sign the defender. (BBC)
Hernandez turned down United
According to reports in Spain, Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez said no to a move to Manchester United despite the Premier League giants offering to double his wages. (Marca)
Zamparini: Dybala will move to Spain
Juventus star Paulo Dybala will sign for a Spanish club in January, says the chairman of his former club Palermo. Maurizio Zamparini told RMC Sport: “Two years ago, I sent a message to [Paulo] Dybala and I advised him to go to Spain, not to Italy. He will leave, because Juventus want to earn €120m [£106.8m]. In January I think that he will go to Spain. He has offers in Spain and England.” Argentine forward Dybala has been linked with a move to Manchester United. (Sky Sports)
