A fireball spotted over Arizona, California, and Nevada Tuesday night was debris from a Russian rocket re-entering the atmosphere, a U.S. military official said.
U.S. Strategic Command spokeswoman Julie Ziegenhorn told The Associated Press people were seeing the SL-5 rocket body booster launched by Russia on Monday. On social media, users posted videos and photos of the fireball, which some believed was a meteor breaking apart or satellite debris. Catherine Garcia
