Ben & Jerry's captures Bernie Sanders' fight for equality in its proposed 'Bernie's Yearning' flavor

Ben Cohen, the "Ben" of the delicious, Vermont-based ice cream duo Ben & Jerry's, gave MSNBC a metaphor-heavy yet delicious suggestion for a Bernie Sanders-themed ice cream flavor:

"I came up with one. It's called 'Bernie's Yearning.' When you open up the pint, there's this big disk of chocolate on the top, covering the entire top, and below it is just plain mint ice cream. And the disk of chocolate represents the 90 percent of the wealth that has gone to the top 10 percent over the last ten years. The way you eat it is that you take your spoon — you whack that big chocolate disk into a bunch of little pieces and you mix it around and there you have it: 'Bernie's Yearning.'" [The New Republic]

This isn't the first time Cohen has made such a proposal. Back in May, the Ben & Jerry's co-founder and Sanders supporter floated the flavor idea "Bernie's Rebellion," which he said would have some chocolate chips "molded in the shape of a cap that you wear for graduation to symbolize his stance in favor of free college education and reduced student loan rates" and an equal number of both peanuts and pecans to "symbolize his initiatives to reduce economic inequality."
