President Obama had a post-Bush era foreign policy doctrine that he didn't think anyone could disagree with — until Hillary Clinton did. "Great nations need organizing principles and 'Don't do stupid stuff' is not an organizing principle," Clinton said after she left office as secretary of state in 2014. Clinton's criticism made Obama "rip-s--t angry," one of his senior advisers told The Atlantic. Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes recalls: "the questions we were asking in the White House were 'Who exactly is in the stupid-s--t caucus? Who is pro–stupid s--t?'"

Clinton apologized and announced they'd "hug it out" on Martha's Vineyard.
