House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) will step down as co-chairman of the Republican National Convention should presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump ask him to.
"He's the nominee," Ryan told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Monday. "I'll do whatever he wants with respect to the convention."
On Sunday, days after Ryan declined to back him, Trump suggested on Meet the Press he may ask the speaker to step down if he doesn't make an endorsement before the July convention. The two are set to meet privately Thursday with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.
