Impeachment proceedings against Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff are expected to reach a turning point Wednesday as the country's Senate votes on whether or not to take on the case. If a majority votes today in favor of accepting the case, the president will be required to leave the Presidential Palace for 180 days.

If the impeachment trial indeed goes through, Rousseff will have 20 days to present her defense. A committee would then vote on a final determination, which is given to the Senate to vote; if two-thirds majority approves it, Rousseff would then be removed from office.
