The 2016 presidential race has always been strange, "but today it jumped the Z train to weirdsville, because Donald Trump went to Mexico," Stephen Colbert said on Wednesday's Late Show. "Quick! Build the wall. I'll pay for it." The meeting between Trump and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto was secret, "but we here at The Late Show have obtained exclusive footage of their summit," he added, queing up a clip from a telenovela.
"Now here's the crazy thing about this trip," Colbert said: It really did kind of make Trump look presidential. "I mean, the whole world saw Donald Trump doing something he has never done before: stay quiet while someone else was talking," he said. "And the whole thing changed the way you look at Trump. But, thankfully, it didn't change the way you hear him." Yes, Trump still sounded like Trump, but Colbert ended with an image of Hillary Clinton screaming in disbelief at Trump's apparently successful Mexican adventure. Time will tell. Watch below.
