An attempt by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) to impeach President Trump overwhelmingly failed in the House on Wednesday in a 364-58 vote, The Associated Press reports. "Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment," Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said in a joint statement ahead of the vote.
Green has called for impeaching Trump since May, BuzzFeed News reports, although many of his Democratic colleagues believe any attempt at unseating the president should be held off at least until a conclusion is reached by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
