Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving Real Madrid to join the Italian soccer club Juventus, it was announced Tuesday. Ronaldo will sign a four-year deal worth approximately $35 million annually with Juventus, but because of transfer fees and tax the overall deal is worth nearly $398 million, The Guardian reports. Ronaldo, 33, spent nine years with Real Madrid and is the team's all-time leading scorer with 450 goals, ESPN reports — a tally more than 100 goals ahead of any other player in Real Madrid's history.

Ronaldo joined the Spanish club in 2009 after six years with Manchester United, and with Los Blancos he won four Champions League titles, two Spanish Cups, and three FIFA Club World Cups. Ronaldo additionally played with Portugal at the 2018 World Cup, but the team fell to Uruguay in the Round of 16.
