Gigi Hadid dismissed as a potential juror in the Harvey Weinstein trial

Five jurors have been selected for the Harvey Weinstein rape trial, but one famous face won't be joining them.
Supermodel Gigi Hadid was dismissed Thursday after being called for jury duty in the disgraced producer's trial, The Associated Press reports.
News broke Monday that Hadid was called in as a potential juror in the trial, and she reportedly told the judge she felt she could be fair and impartial in the case despite having met Weinstein, CNN reports. Hadid also said in court that she has met actress Salma Hayek, who has accused Weinstein of sexual harassment and is a potential witness in the case.

"I think I'm still able to keep an open mind on the facts," Hadid said, per CNN.
Both the defense and the prosecution ultimately agreed to dismiss Hadid, BuzzFeed News reports. An attorney for Weinstein had complained of the "carnival-like atmosphere" in the trial while saying that Hadid "attracts her own press, and her presence also increases the number of spectators and protestors outside of the courthouse." Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault and rape charges in the case.
Later on Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter said five jurors were selected for the trial, three men and two women, out of the roughly 140 who remained in the jury pool. Opening statements in the trial are set to begin Jan. 22.
