1. Djokovic equals Nadal record

Novak Djokovic has equalled Rafael Nadal’s record of 33 ATP Masters 1000 titles with his victory at the 2019 Madrid Open.

World No.1 Djokovic secured the Madrid title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final on Sunday. It was his 74th tour success and 200th victory against a top 10 opponent.

Speaking in the Spanish capital the Serbian star told ATPtour.com: “These are the best tournaments, biggest tournaments we have in our sport, in the ATP, of course alongside the grand slams. This is as important and as good as it gets.

2. Pep’s party as City win title

Manchester City sealed the Premier League title on Sunday after beating Brighton 4-1 on the final day of the season. City finished the 38-match campaign with 98 points, one more than Liverpool. See the reactions to City’s title win and today’s back pages for more.

3. Africa’s golden trio

Three African strikers will share the 2018-19 Golden Boot award after finishing top of the Premier League goalscoring charts. Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon) and Liverpool pair Sadio Mane (Senegal) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt) all ended the season with 22 league goals. It is the first time since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Michael Owen and Dwight Yorke in 1998-99 that the award has been shared by three players.

4. Champions League final live on YouTube

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Uefa Champions League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will be live streamed for free on YouTube by BT Sport. The final on 1 June will be played at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain (8pm UK time).

5. Another 1-2 for Mercedes

Mercedes secured their fifth successive 1-2 in the 2019 Formula 1 season after Lewis Hamilton finished ahead of team-mate Valtteri Bottas at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton’s victory and fastest lap at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya means the reigning world champion took 26 points in Spain and moves ahead of Bottas in the drivers’ championship. 6. Mumbai win the IPL final

Mumbai Indians are the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) champions after a one-run win against Chennai Super Kings in Sunday’s final. Mumbai have now won the IPL a record four times.

7. Saracens celebrate

English rugby giants Saracens beat Ireland’s Leinster 20-10 in the Champions Cup final at St James’ Park on Saturday. Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell told the BBC: “It’s a massive occasion for the whole club. It’s not just about the lads on this pitch, everybody that’s behind the scenes makes this club what it is. We were playing against a really good team who’ve got to back-to-back finals and they tested us. But this is a tight-knit group and that’s what makes us good.”

8. Rory tops young Rich List

Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy has topped The Sunday Times Rich List of young British and Irish sports stars. Four-time major winner McIlroy is worth £138m.

9. Brighton sack Hughton

Chris Hughton has been sacked by Brighton & Hove Albion after the south coast club’s 17th-place finish in the Premier League. Brighton chairman Tony Bloom said in a statement: “Our run of three wins from 23 Premier League matches put our status at significant risk. It is with that in mind, and the performances during that period, that I now feel it’s the right time for a change. Undoubtedly, this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make as chairman of Brighton, but ultimately one I have made due to how we struggled in the second half of the season.”

10. Watch the Maradona movie trailer

The first poster and official trailer has been released for the new Diego Maradona documentary film. Directed by Asif Kapadia (Senna, Amy) the Maradona movie will be shown in UK and Irish cinemas from 14 June.
