Man United set to launch £60m raid on Spurs for Eric Dier

Jose Mourinho has a spring in his step after snatching Romelu Lukaku from under the noses of Chelsea and according to ESPN Jose Mourinho now wants Eric Dier as his next Manchester United acquisition.

The broadcaster claims that "United may even bid £60m" for the 23-year-old midfielder although Tottenham remain "adamant they will not entertain any offers". Then again, might the Lilywhites not be tempted by such an astronomical fee given that their new stadium is setting them back £800m?

Perhaps, says ESPN, but the revenue they'll bank from next season's Champions League will offset that to an extent and the club are determined not to lose Dier particularly as they've apparently agreed to let Kyle Walker head to Manchester City.

And what of Moussa Sissoko? The Evening Standard claims that Marseille "have not given up hope" of agreeing a deal for the playmaker and unlike Dier, Tottenham may listen to offers provided they exceed the £30m that they paid Newcastle for Sissoko 12 months ago.

After a disappointing season at White Hart Lane, the Frenchman is considered surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino but he's keen to get regular game time next season in the hope of securing a spot in France's World Cup squad.

The Standard says that Marseille "hope they can come to an arrangement with Spurs" and it's believed they would like to take him initially on loan with the option of making the move permanent if everything works out.

Still in France and the Daily Express has been reading L'Equipe and reports its claim that Spurs "have been showing interest in Monaco centre-half Kamil Glik". In recent weeks all the transfer talk concerning the French champions has centred on Thomas Lemar, Fabinho, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Kylian Mbappe, but the Express says that Pochettino regards the 29-year-old Glik as the man to bolster his defence.

The Spurs gaffer is "an admirer" of the Poland international and while he's yet to make a formal approach for the rangy centre back he's expected to table a bid in the coming weeks, although L'Equipe predicts it will need to be "a hefty offer" to persuade Monaco to sell Glik.
