Danny Rose not for sale Spurs tell Man Utd and Chelsea

Spurs have told Manchester United in no uncertain terms that they will not be plucking an English Rose from White Hart Lane this summer.

The Red Devils have been eyeing up defender Danny Rose for a number of weeks but the Daily Express says that the Lilywhites have "informed Manchester United that Danny Rose is not for sale and any offers will be rejected".

Tottenham sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50m last month and United had been hoping to tempt another Spurs defender to the North West. But the Express says that Tottenham gaffer Mauricio Pochettino is determined to see off interest from United, while The Sun says the same goes for Chelsea, who have also been sniffing around the England international in the wake of their disappointing display in Sunday's Charity Shield defeat to Arsenal.

Spurs are the only club in the Premier League not to have signed a player this summer, because of the financial constraints imposed upon the club following their costly renovation of White Hart Lane.

That's concerned some of the fans, given that they will competing in the Champions League this season, but the decision to keep hold of Rose in the face of interest from two of their Premier League rivals will be a boost to the faithful.

Meanwhile the International Business Times says that Turkish outfit Trabzonspor are awaiting a decision from Spurs over Moussa Sissoko.

They have held talks with the French midfielder, who failed to adapt to his first season at the Lane, and are keen to take him on loan. But that's not ideal for Tottenham, says the IBT, who would rather recoup most of the £30m they spent on Sissoko 12 months ago by selling him.

Everton and Marseille were linked with the playmaker earlier in the summer, but their interest has waned and it's expected that Spurs will accept Trabzonspor's proposition to at least make a bit of money from the French failure.
