Italian luxury brand launches the art of wellbeing collection
At Loro Piana, prestige materials have lineage. An innovative use of rare fibres has been a Loro Piana building block since the Piedmont-headquartered Italian luxury brand was first founded in 1924.
Cloud-like jumpers knitted from rare baby cashmere are a calling card, so are slip-on moccasins, their pale latex soles matched with unlined suede uppers. Elsewhere, a taste for adventure and exploration has long underscored the brand’s ethos: the result of two decades of research, Loro Piana’s trademarked Storm System renders natural fabrics weatherproof, protected during open-air escapades on terra firma or when sailing – in itself another Loro Piana speciality.
There’s a globetrotting bend to many of the brand’s signature materials too. In northern China and Mongolia, Loro Piana cherry-picks cashmere fibres; in New Zealand, it champions the dark fleece of the black Merino sheep. A new addition to Loro Piana’s offering is decidedly more homebound. Unveiled in November by supermodel Christy Turlington and photographer Pamela Hanson, the make’s new Art of Wellbeing collection aims to promote health and happiness.

“These lifestyle products were imagined to make the life of our consumers more pleasant, without giving up the pleasure of refinement even in their daily habits, dedicated to the search for physical and mental wellbeing,” Loro Piana CEO Fabio d’Angelantonio tells me. “We consider it a natural evolution of our loungewear proposals, which have always been part of Loro Piana’s collections.”
The collection is split into a trio of sets, inspired by their use and application, from inward-looking meditation to power training and lastly, the great outdoors. At Loro Piana, moments of tranquil meditation are made sweeter with a custom-designed mat fashioned from pure chevron-surfaced cashmere (Storm System waterproofed), the kit is made complete with non-slip cashmere yoga socks plus a cotton and flax yoga bag. Refreshments are served from glass bottles cloaked in cashmere carriers.
Then, there is Loro Piana’s fitness kit, which comprises weights (both 1kg and 2kg are available), a lambskin-clad jumping rope and a Storm System secured gym ball with tactile leather handles. Crafted to perform, all workout accoutrements are ennobled with cashmere details.
For when the outdoors beckons, Loro Piana has engineered a new sleeping mask (baby cashmere knit on one side, cashmere Storm System on the other); a sleeping bag comes lined in baby cashmere. “Of course, the development took time, [considering] the detailing and attentive construction of the products,” reveals d’Angelantonio. “In such unprecedented times, we are proud to present a capsule that hopefully makes the research of wellbeing at home more enjoyable.”
