Auction roundup: November's fabulous finds
Going under the hammer this month are fine examples of both European and Asian craftsmanship
You'll often find the most covetable luxury items at specialist salerooms, from fine art and antiques to rare timepieces and exquisite jewellery.
Fellows in Birmingham has some great examples of the latter at its auctions this month. It has a sale of antique and modern jewellery on 10 November, with lots featuring a Cartier 18ct gold Love bangle with screw-head motifs (£1,500-£2,000). Highlights at The Watch Sale on 29 November, meanwhile, include a Bulgari Daniel Roth Grande Lune men's watch in 18ct rose gold with exhibition case back and moon-phase indicator, expected to reach £12,000-£18,000.
Further up the fine-and-rare watch scale is internationally renowned watch auctioneer Antiquorum, which holds around ten sales of exceptional timepieces each year. Its Important Modern and Vintage Timepieces sale will be held in Geneva on 13 November and bids can be made online. Highlights include a very rare Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Skeleton Minute Repeater Limited Edition from 2006, with an estimate of CHF 170,000-CHF 240,000 (£140,900-£199,000).

Vintage jewellery enthusiasts should examine the lots on offer at Special Auction Services' jewellery sale on 10 November. The sale in Newbury, Berkshire, covers a range of eras, from Edwardian and Victorian to Art Deco. Star lots include an 18ct-gold and turquoise novelty tortoise brooch by Cartier (£2,500-£3,000) and a Chinese jade and pink tourmaline pendant (£4,000-£6,000).
Chinese jewellery and works of art continue to be popular at auction and Semley Auctioneers is holding a sale of Oriental ceramics and works of art on 12 November – a standout piece being a very rare carved Chinese jadeite plaque depicting a squirrel and grapes (£30,000-£50,000).
A notable lot at Chiswick Auctions' sale of Asian art on 14 November is Garden Balsam and Butterflies, a 20th-century ink painting by influential Chinese artist Qi Baishi - the "Chinese Picasso". It is estimated to fetch £20,000-£30,000. Also in the sale is a bronze model of a ram, dating from the Qing Dynasty (£4,000-£6,000).
Those looking for examples of British artistry should head to Gardiner Houlgate in Bath for its fine-paintings sale on 25 November. Highlights include an oil-on-canvas painting by Dorothea Sharp (1874-1955), which is expected to fetch £25,000-£30,000.
From the same era is a large Royal Worcester porcelain ewer (£8,000-£12,000), hand-painted by prolific Worcester artist Harry Davis and part of a large collection of Royal Worcester pieces for sale at Thomas R Callan in Ayr on 19 November.
