Nissan’s PS4-controlled GT-R is a gamer’s dream
Supercar goes from 0-62mph in less than three seconds at the press of a button

Nissan has transformed its 196mph GT-R supercar into a life-size remote-controlled vehicle that can be driven with a standard PlayStation 4 controller.
Called the GT-R/C, the car is equipped with “four robots which use the signals from the controller to adjust the throttle, steering, transmission, and, importantly, brakes at a rate of 100 times a second”, reports Auto Express.
It’s also “fitted with two independent safety systems", to help “prevent the one and only GTR/C suffering PlayStation style crashes”, the magazine adds.

The GT-R/C is mechanically identical to the regular road-going version and is powered by the same 542bhp V6 engine - capable of 0-62mph in around three seconds.
The remote-controlled car has been created in collaboration with UK-based engineering firm JLB Design Ltd to celebrate the launch of Sony’s upcoming racing simulator Gran Turismo Sport, which launches exclusively on the PS4 next week.
Jann Mardenborough, the 2011 champion of Gran Turismo and Nissan’s GT Academy e-sports programme, put the GT-R/C through its paces at the Silverstone circuit, where he piloted the supercar from the passenger seat of a helicopter.
“The response from the car when using the controller was far more engaging than I thought it would be,” says Mardenborough.
“Steering, acceleration and braking were all intelligently configured, allowing for controlled application so I could really get a feel through the corners and hold it steady down the fast straights,” he adds.
Although most gamers won’t get the chance to drive the GT-R/C, says Engadget, the regular version of the GT-R will be available to test-drive on 40 virtual tracks in Gran Turismo Sport.
It launches on 18 October for the PS4 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon for £49.99.
