Speaking to the West Brom website Pardew says he is excited to be in charge of one of England’s “great, traditional” clubs.
“I’m thrilled with the opportunity Albion have provided and looking forward to getting to work with what I consider to be a talented group of players,” said Pardew.
“The immediate challenge will be to get the results we need to pull ourselves up the table. But I’m aware that while I’m joining one of the great, traditional clubs of English football, it is one determined to go forward in the Premier League.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to play a part in that ambition.”
Assistant head coach Gary Megson has left the club after taking over as caretaker boss following Pulis’s sacking. John Carver, Pardew’s assistant at Newcastle, has been added to the West Brom backroom staff.
Allardyce agrees Everton deal
According to Sky Sports News Sam Allardyce has agreed a deal to take over as manager at Everton.
Former England boss Allardyce is expected to be formally named as Everton’s new manager before the home Premier League match against West Ham United tonight.
Sky reports that Allardyce will appoint Sammy Lee as his assistant manager and also bring former Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare into the Everton set-up.
Current caretaker boss David Unsworth, who has been in charge since Ronald Koeman was sacked, is expected to return to his previous position as the under-23s' manager.
