Radio presenter and sports journalist Lynsey Hipgrave has been lauded for cutting off a caller on her talkSPORT radio show after he continuously referred to her as “love” and “darling”.
Hipgrave was discussing the subject of FA chief Martin Glenn’s controversial comments about Pep Guardiola's yellow-ribbon protest alongside former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy.
Suring a phone-in segment, one of the callers, “Gareth”, repeatedly referred to her as “love” and “darling”.

The broadcaster eventually hung-up on Gareth but not before she’d warned him about how he was addressing her.
The exchange was “posted on the talkSPORT Twitter account and prompted debate about whether Gareth had been sexist and whether the broadcaster was right to pull him up on it,” says the Daily Mirror.
Hipgrave “has been a victim of sexist abuse previously when, back in 2016, she tweeted criticism at Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for passing a penalty,” says the Newcastle Chronicle.
Within moments of her tweet, she was “bombarded with sexist tweets” including: “We need sandwiches not opinions” and “somewhere there’s a kitchen and it’s missing something.”
