Arsenal transfer news: Alexis Sanchez Man City deal blocked
Gunners determined not to sell to a rival and still hold out hope of a new deal - latest Arsenal transfer news and gossip
Arsenal have put the kibosh on Manchester City's audacious attempt to lure Alexis Sanchez to the Etihad, reports the Daily Mirror.
Stories emerged over the weekend saying the Chilean's move north to City was "a done deal", but that's not how the Gunners see it with the north London outfit "determined not to sell to a rival".
So it doesn't matter if City are ready to give Arsenal £40m and hand Sanchez a £280,000-a-week deal but Arsene Wenger is adamant he won't allow his star striker to end up scoring goals against his side next season in the Premier League.

Consequently, says the Mirror, Bayern Munich appears the "only escape route" for Sanchez, who is still apparently determined to leave the club despite having been offered in excess of £275,000-a-week to stay. But Arsenal "have not given up on keeping Sanchez", who is known to enjoy living in London, and who might be persuaded to tough out the Europa League for a season if the club invests in several big names over the summer.
And there's more bad news for the Gunners courtesy this time of ESPN with their report that Juventus are poised to lure Leicester ace Riyad Mahrez to Turin.
The Italian champions "have the Algerian in their sights" despite the recent rumours suggesting that the winger was Emirates-bound. Not so, it seems, with ESPN claiming that Arsene Wenger has "been put off by Leicester's demand for about £50m for Mahrez". Juventus are willing to meet the Foxes asking price and a bid is expected to arrive at the King Power Stadium in the coming days.
