Five of the best electric radiators
Featuring built-in thermostats, accompanying apps and a ceramic model
1. VonHaus 2000W closed fin oil-filled radiator
This large 2kW radiator provides steady warmth with a chimney effect and works well for a medium-sized room. At 12.8kg it is heavy, but it has carry handles. To keep costs down, use the built-in thermostat and timer.
2. Princess smart glass panel heater 1500W
Once set up, this app-controlled heater is easy to use with an adjustable thermostat, a high/low power switch and a timer. It can be wall-mounted and is light enough (6kg) to move.

3. Duronic Slimline HV220 heater
This 1.8kW radiant convection heater warms up fast and radiates heat sideways as well as upwards. It’s light (4.5kg), and once hot can be set to a lower output (0.9kW) to save on electricity.
4. DeLonghi tower ceramic fan heater 2kW
Fan heaters use more energy than convection heaters, but this ceramic model can warm a large area quickly. At 1.3kg, it’s light, portable and quiet.
5. Russell Hobbs 500W Ceramic Plug Heater
This tiny heater, which plugs directly into a socket, is perfect for a small bedroom. It has a night light, an LED display and a programmable timer.
