Despite Pogba wanting to depart, the Sun reports that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will ask the 26-year-old to wait one more season before quitting the Red Devils.
Toon target Bruce
Newcastle United are being linked with a move for former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce. The Daily Star and Daily Mirror report that the Sheffield Wednesday boss has jumped to the top of the queue to become Newcastle’s next manager.
Konta crashes out
The Guardian reports that Johanna Konta was knocked out - then hit out - at Wimbledon yesterday. British No.1 Konta was beaten 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 by unseeded Barbora Strycova in the quarter-finals.
In the post-match press conference journalists questioned Konta over her many unforced errors and the missed opportunity of reaching the semi-finals or winning a grand slam.
Konta reacted angrily and said some of the questions were “disrespectful and patronising”. She told one reporter: “I don’t think you need to pick on me in a harsh way.”
