Transfer news and rumours: Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Aguero, Alex Sandro
We look at the deals that could happen during the January transfer window
Alexis Sanchez: Arsenal to Liverpool
Writing in the Irish Independent, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes his old club should put in a “sneaky” £40million offer for the out-of-contract Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
Aldridge believes the Chilean forward would be a perfect replacement for Philippe Coutinho if the Brazilian joins Barcelona. “The absence of Philippe Coutinho from the Liverpool team fuelled rumours that he may be on his way to Barcelona sooner than we expected, but that would not be so much of a concern if they could nick a player like Sanchez,” Aldridge writes.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has “opened the door” for Sanchez to be sold this month. Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested in the Chilean player. Arsenal might be tempted to sell if they receive a bid of £25million.
Sergio Aguero: hoping to stay at Manchester City
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero doesn’t want to leave the Premier League leaders but admits the club will have the “last word”.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Aguero said: “The truth is that I hope to see out my contract and I’ll try to do my best from here until the end of the season, and after that we will see what happens with me. Obviously my plan is not to change clubs. The truth is I’m very happy here but, as always, as I said before, the club has the last word.
“They’re the only ones who decide because obviously the club is the one who makes the decisions, they are the ones who say you have to go or have to stay, so I’ll respect whatever they tell me.”
Alex Sandro: Juventus to Chelsea
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will bid £50m to bring Juventus full-back Alex Sandro to Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, the Mirror reports. Sandro, 26, has also been a target for Manchester United so Conte will aim to get a deal done this month.
One Juve player not expected to make a move to the Blues is central defender Giorgio Chiellini. The Daily Mail says the 33-year-old wants to end his career in Turin.
Olivier Giroud: Arsenal to Fenerbahce
Football London reports that Turkish side Fenerbahce want to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this month.
The Frenchman has been a target for Everton and West Ham in the past but Fenerbahce want to beat the Premier League sides to his signature.
Joe Allen: Stoke City to West Ham United
Hammers boss David Moyes wants to sign a midfielder this month, says Sky Sports, and Stoke City’s Joe Allen is his number one transfer target.
Stoke don’t want to sell the Welsh international. Under-fire boss Mark Hughes told Sky that the club “can’t afford to lose a player” of Allen’s quality.
Hughes said: “He is working exceptionally hard for us and we are really pleased with what he is producing for us at the moment. We won’t be encouraging any bids for any of our key players, especially not in January, that is for certain.”
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic: no thoughts of leaving Lazio
Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is “only focused on Lazio” and isn’t thinking about leaving the Italian side.
The 22-year-old has been a target for Manchester United. Metro reports that Jose Mourinho is ready to make a £95m bid. But Milinkovic-Savic said: “I am not thinking about leaving Lazio, because I am currently very happy in Rome.”
