Premier League transfer window deals: could Cavani, Eriksen, Rose and Aubameyang be on the move?

The Premier League transfer window “slams shut” a week today and English top-flight clubs will be working hard to make upgrades to their squads.

Two teams who could have a very busy few days in the transfer market include Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is feeling the pressure after the 2-0 loss at home against Burnley and the injury to striker Marcus Rashford means the Red Devils could be on the lookout for a new frontman.

United also looked set to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, but according to the Daily Mail a deal for the 25-year-old Portugal midfielder is off.

In north London Spurs manager Jose Mourinho could also be aiming to bring in a striker after Harry Kane’s hamstring injury. Mourinho may also see some players leave the club this month.

When is the transfer deadline?

Premier League clubs have until 11pm on Friday 31 January 2020 to sign players.

A league official said: “Clubs completing deals late on deadline day, 31 January, will be able to submit a deal sheet between 21:00-23:00 GMT.

“Clubs will have until midnight on deadline day to complete the information needed by Fifa’s Transfer Matching System to apply for international clearance for new signings.”

Here we look at some of the potential deals that could happen in the next week…

Christian Eriksen: Tottenham to Inter Milan or Barcelona

Christian Eriksen’s Spurs stay could end this month. Italian side Inter Milan are favourites to land the Danish playmaker and according to Sempreinter.com a £16.8m deal has reportedly been agreed.

However, Sky Sports says that Spanish champions Barcelona have made an enquiry about signing the 27-year-old this month.

Eriksen is out of contract at the end of the season and has also been linked with Man Utd and Real Madrid.

Danny Rose: Tottenham to Newcastle/Bournemouth/Watford

Another player who could be about to leave Tottenham is left-back Danny Rose. The London Evening Standard says the England international is a target for Newcastle United after falling out of favour with Spurs boss Mourinho.

Newcastle will offer the 29-year-old a route out of Tottenham, but the Daily Mirror says that Bournemouth and Watford are also in the hunt.

Edinson Cavani: PSG to Man Utd or Chelsea

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is a man in demand after it was claimed that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Man Utd are “cautiously exploring” the option of signing Cavani while Chelsea are also keen.

However, the 32-year-old is strongly linked with a switch to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

Moussa Dembele: Lyon to Chelsea

The Sun adds that if Chelsea miss out on Cavani they will switch their attentions to Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has “made it clear” to the Chelsea board that he has to bring in more firepower if they are to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Arsenal to Barcelona

Spanish champions Barcelona have suffered a major blow with news that striker Luis Suarez is set for a spell on the sidelines.

One player who the Catalans have been linked with as a replacement is Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to reports in Spain, cited by Metro, the 30-year-old is Barca’s top January transfer target and he is willing to join them from the Gunners.

Thomas Lemar: Atletico Madrid to Arsenal

Arsenal have long been linked with Thomas Lemar and the Daily Express says the Gunners are now “front of the queue” to sign the French international.

Atletico Madrid signed Lemar from Monaco in 2018 for £52.7m, but the Spanish club are keen to cut their losses.

Willian Jose: Real Sociedad to Tottenham

Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose is pushing for a move, ESPN reports, with Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho identifying him as the man to step in for the injured Harry Kane.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has a €70m (£58.9m) buy-out clause in his contract, but Tottenham are negotiating a much lower fee.

Gareth Bale: Real Madrid to Tottenham

Could Wales star Gareth Bale make a stunning return to Spurs? It’s a very, very long shot, but the Daily Mail, citing Spanish publication El Chiringuito, says the north London club are keen to re-sign the 30-year-old. However, Spurs are only willing to cough up £25m.
