Premier League transfer news: Alvaro Morata, Nabil Fekir, Declan Rice
Chelsea urged to sell Morata and Real Madrid prepare move for Lyon’s Fekir
Premier League transfer news and rumours
Chelsea should ‘cut losses’ with Morata
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes Chelsea should sell Alvaro Morata and replace him with a proven goalscorer if they want to win the Premier League title.
Writing in the Daily Mirror, Collymore said: “Maurizio Sarri’s side don’t have an out-and-out goalscorer. And until they cut their losses with Alvaro Morata and bring in a replacement who is going to score them 30-plus goals a season, then I don’t see them getting their hands on the Premier League trophy again anytime soon.”

Nabil Fekir: Lyon to Real Madrid/Chelsea
Lyon and France attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir is a target for Real Madrid, The Sun reports. The 25-year-old’s move to Liverpool fell through this summer due to fitness concerns, but he has starred for Lyon this season in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League where he scored against Manchester City in a 2-1 win last week. Chelsea are also interested in Fekir but the French newspaper L’Equipe claims that Real are preparing to make a move to bring him to the Bernabeu.
Zabaleta urges new Rice deal
The Daily Mail says that West Ham United could lose talented youngster Declan Rice after the 19-year-old turned down a new contract. Rice is currently earning £3,000 a week but the new offer of £12,000 a week is deemed “derisory” by the player’s agents. Meanwhile The Guardian reports that defender Pablo Zabaleta has urged the Hammers to secure Rice’s signature. Zabaleta said: “He is young and still has room for improvement for sure. But he has the right ability and attitude to become one of the greatest players for West Ham.”
Gotze: ‘a good fit for Liverpool’
Kevin Grosskreutz believes his former teammate Mario Gotze could reignite his career by signing for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Gotze, who scored Germany’s winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final, currently plays at Borussia Dortmund. Grosskreutz said: “I’m very sorry for Mario Gotze at the moment because stuff is written about him – and only him – every day. Maybe it would be good for him to go abroad in the winter to find a bit more peace and bring his career back on track. Klopp knows him quite well, he would be a good fit for Liverpool.” (Sky Germany)
Herrera wants United stay
Despite interest from Barcelona, sources say that Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera would prefer to stay at Manchester United. The 29-year-old’s Old Trafford contract expires next summer. (ESPN)
Ismaila Sarr: Rennes to Arsenal/Inter Milan
Arsenal and Inter Milan are keen on Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr. The Senegal international, who is 20, has been compared to Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele and is rated as “one of Europe’s hottest prospects”. (Daily Mirror)
Giroud: I hope Cahill stays
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud says Gary Cahill is an important player for the club. Giroud said: “I understand that he wants to play more. I think his heart is still in Chelsea and hopefully we will keep him because we need him. He needs to be happy, that is the main thing. But I hope he stays because he is important for us, he is a very good player. He’s been at Chelsea for six years, he is one of the faces of Chelsea and one of our captains. We need him.” (Goal.com)
