Rodgers, who formerly managed Liverpool, has been with Celtic since 2016 and has won two league titles, three Scottish League Cups and two Scottish Cups.

The Herald reports that Celtic assistant boss Chris Davies and technical assistant Kolo Toure will join Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.

BBC Scotland sports news correspondent Chris McLaughlin said: “It’s the news the Celtic fans had been dreading. Since taking over in 2016 he has delivered everything domestically - the double treble was secured at the end of last season and the club were on the way to make it a triple treble.

“But there was always a feeling the former Liverpool boss wanted to try his luck once again in English football’s top flight.

“Suggestions he wasn’t getting the boardroom backing he was looking for may also have hastened his exit - but it leaves Celtic looking to replace one of their most successful ever managers.”

Leicester City play at home against Brighton & Hove Albion tonight in the Premier League (7.45pm).

Lennon set for Celtic return

It’s also being reported in Scotland that Neil Lennon will return to Celtic and take over as manager until the end of the season.

The Daily Record calls Lennon’s return to Parkhead “sensational”. He managed Celtic from 2010 to 2014 and won three league championships and two Scottish Cups.

The Herald adds that Celtic will hold a press conference later today ahead of tomorrow’s Scottish Premiership match with Hearts at Tynecastle.
