There are some situations where if you ask why, you're probably missing the point. On Tuesday's Tonight Show, Neil Young sat down on a fake revolving tree stump with Jimmy Fallon's young Neil Young to sing a duet called "Two Neil Youngs on a Tree Stump." The song, in the style of vintage early-1970s Young, appears to have an environmental message — "Two Neil Youngs on a tree stump, where did the other Neil come from? He came from the future, back to the past, to warn your ass" — and a kicker about the Orlando shootings, but it mostly seems to be something you just do if you are having Neil Young on your talk show and the host does a great Neil Young impersonation.
If you're inspired by the duet, you can watch Fallon's young Neil Young sing Young's "Old Man" with Young, or Young and Stephen Colbert duel in song about the environment, or if that's not enough, Fallon's James Taylor sing a duet with James Taylor on a see-saw. Just don't ask too many questions.
