Patagonia sells beer now
You don't have to be the least bit outdoorsy to enjoy Patagonia's newest product. On Monday, the eco-friendly clothing company announced that it would be adding an American pale ale to its repertoire of fleeces and fly-fishing gear. The beer, called Long Root Ale, is brewed in partnership with Portland's Hopworks Urban Brewery, and, per CNN Money's description, has a "grapefruit hop flavor with a balanced maltiness" and is 5.5 percent alcohol by volume.
Like the rest of its products, Patagonia's beer emphasizes sustainability. The ale is made from Kernza, a wild grain that Fast Company reported "does not require pesticides, uses less water than regular wheat, reduces erosion, and cuts more carbon from the atmosphere."
And in case you need a snack to go with your fleece and your beer, don't worry — Patagonia has already taken care of that. The beer is just the latest product in Patagonia's food brand, Patagonia Provisions, which the company's founder started four years ago. The brand also sells soups, Buffalo jerky, and snack bars.
