There was only supposed to be one debate this year between the candidates for vice president, but magically, Seth Meyers was able to hold a second one on Thursday's Late Night.
Through the wonders of editing, Meyers served as moderator, asking weird questions in order to use real responses from Mike Pence and Tim Kaine out of context. Meyers "asked" Pence how he first met the Trump children ("the cornfield in my backyard") and to check out the sombrero he put on ("you whipped out that Mexican thing again"). As for Kaine, Meyers inquired how we ended up with "two of the most unlikeable candidates in modern history" ("I guess we're stupid") and what he would say to wild teens who stole his minivan ("go ahead, folks, enjoy yourselves").
It's fun to try to guess why Pence and Kaine originally made their comments in the first debate, but even better to listen as Meyers asks questions that get more and more ridiculous. Watch the video below — and get ready for a cameo appearance by someone who was unable to yield the spotlight to his running mate for even a few minutes. Catherine Garcia
