David Ortiz is 'resting comfortably' after undergoing a 2nd surgery
David Ortiz, the former Boston Red Sox slugger who was shot in a nightclub on Sunday, is recovering and stable after undergoing a second surgery in Boston.
Ortiz is "stable, awake, and resting comfortably" at Massachusetts General Hospital, and he will remain there for the next several days, his wife, Tiffany Ortiz said, per CNN. Ortiz's media assistant, Leo Lopez, also told ESPN he has been alert and "even flashed that smile."
The baseball legend had previously undergone surgery immediately after the shooting in the Dominican Republic, during which he had his gallbladder and a part of his intestine removed, NBC News reports.

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting, and authorities say they're looking for another man, CNN reports. It still remains unclear what the suspect's motive might have been.
Tiffany Ortiz in her statement asked for privacy as her husband "works towards recovery" but thanked "everyone for the outpouring of support and love that we have received during this incredibly difficult time."
