Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon have fun with Trump's ill-advised Twitter fight against Chrissy Teigen, John Legend
Monday's Late Show began by imagining President Trump's since-withdrawn Camp David invitation to the Taliban, plus some other odd invites.
Trump may or may not be close to making peace with the Taliban, but "he's taking on America's true enemies, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen," Stephen Colbert said in his monologue. On Sunday, Legend discussed his longtime advocacy for criminal justice reform in an MSNBC special filmed in a prison yard. "Apparently the president tuned in — I assume he was hoping to catch a glimpse of some of his former campaign staff," Colbert deadpanned. "Trump was not happy with what he saw, because he went on an epic tweet rant about the special. Buckle up." He read the tweets.
"This could be the first time in history a mentally ill person is upset because the TV isn't talking to them," Colbert joked. "Trump thinks all of television should be talking about him all the time." John Legend had a witty, searing, and safe-for-work retort to Trump's criticism, but Colbert blew a chef's kiss at Teigen's less-clean riposte. "She just beat Trump at Twitter and nicknames," he said.

"You know these are strange times when the president attacks John Legend and Chrissy Teigen but invites the Taliban to Camp David," Jimmy Fallon said at The Tonight Show. Unlike Colbert, he did not say Teigen's nickname for Trump, instead showing a version sanitized with asterisks. "It looks like a dirty game of Wheel of Fortune," he said, playing as Trump.
"Trump called John Legend a 'boring musician' and called Chrissy Teigen a 'filthy mouthed wife,'" James Corden marveled at The Late Late Show. "In other news, Melania's campaign against cyberbullying is still going strong." The ensuing Twitter war "ridiculous," he said. "Here we have one of the most powerful people in the world wasting his precious time arguing with the president of the United States." Watch below. Peter Weber
