The Department of Veterans Affairs recorded no new COVID-19-related deaths on Monday, marking the first 24-hour span without a fatality in 14 months, Military Times reported Tuesday.

More than 12,000 VA patients have died from coronavirus complications since the pandemic began last year, prompting the department's acting under secretary for health, Dr. Richard Stone, to note that while the news was uplifting, Monday was also a "sobering day."
