Seasonless fashion

Italian fashion brand Gucci has announced that, in a push toward cutting waste, it will reduce the number of fashion shows it does in a year, and that its new lines will be “seasonless.” Will we see these changes reflected in our wardrobes? And are fashion shows a thing of the past?

Sacred land

Earlier this week, mining company Rio Tinto detonated explosives in the Juurkan Gorge in Western Australia, destroying two culturally significant sites that show Aboriginal occupation of the land dating back more than 46,000 years. The timing of the blasts is particularly questionable coinciding with National Reconciliation Week, which promotes efforts to reconcile indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.

Saudi Magpies

The £300m takeover of Newcastle United football club by Saudi Arabia is in serious jeopardy after the state was ruled to be involved in illegal streaming of Premier League matches. But why are copyright infringements a step too far, when human rights abuses were not considered a line in the sand?
