The Great British Bake Off 2018 contestants: who is tipped to win?

A dozen amateur bakers from across the UK are lining up to impress Prue and Paul tonight

The Great British Bake Off returns tonight with a banker, blood courier and former prosthetic technician among the line-up of new contestants.

The hotly anticipated series returns at 8pm - the show’s second series on Channel 4 after seven years on BBC One.

Thankfully not much has changed since the last series. Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be judging the 12 contestants’ bakes, while Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will return as presenters.

So who is tipped to win?

The ovens are barely warmed, but bookmakers are already taking bets on who will be crowned the GBBO winner of 2018. Betway has installed Ruby as the favourite to win, with odds of 9/2.

The 29-year-old project manager from London is ahead of 30-year-old research scientist Rahul at 5/1. Manon, a 26-year-old software project manager who was born in France, is in third place.

“Manon at 11/2 will be looking to use her French roots to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and avoid the feared soggy bottom,” a Betway spokesman told the Daily Express.

Four contestants sit in joint last place: Briony, Dan, Jon and Karen.

These are the odds for all 12 bakers:

Ruby 9/2Rahul 5/1Manon 11/2Kim-Joy 13/2Antony 8/1Imelda 10/1Terry 10/1Luke 12/1Briony 14/1Dan 14/1Jon 14/1Karen 14/1
