World Cup group E: Brazil and Switzerland qualify
Group E final standings and results
Brazil have booked their place in the last 16 of the Fifa World Cup after finishing first in group E.
The Samba Boys beat Serbia 2-0 in their final group match to finish top with seven points. Switzerland join Brazil in the knockouts after a 2-2 draw with Costa Rica meant they finished on five points, two more than Serbia.
Paulinho opened the scoring for Brazil against Serbia after 36 minutes then on 68 minutes Thiago Silva doubled the lead. Brazil will now face Mexico in the last-16 on 2 July in Samara.

Switzerland will play Sweden in the round of 16 after securing a point in the 2-2 draw with Costa Rica.
The Swiss took a 1-0 lead through Blerim Dzemaili but Kendall Waston headed Costa Rica level after 55 minutes. Substitute Josip Drmic restored Switzerland’s lead with two minutes left but in injury-time Costa Rica were awarded a spot kick. Bryan Ruiz’s penalty hit the bar but came back down and hit Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer on the head for an own goal.
