She explained the reason for her sudden departure in a note posted to social media.

The 32-year-old star told fans she felt “honoured and blessed” to have won the awards. “But it saddens me to say that just after the show I learned that my dear angel of a horse, Arabella, is dying,” she wrote. “I am rushing to her now to say goodbye.”

Gaga “skipped all post-show events in favor of rushing home to say goodbye to her beloved pet”, says Entertainment Tonight.

According to fan website Gagapedia, the singer received Arabella as a gift from her record label in December 2015. The following year, she purchased a stallion named Trigger as a companion for the mare, with the pair producing two foals.

As well as frequently popping up on Gaga’s social media accounts, Arabella also graced the cover of her 2018 single Joanna.

“I will never forget the moments we shared. Long hikes together, galloping through the canyons. Feeding her cookies,” Gaga wrote in her statement last night. “She will forever be a part of me. I am so very sad.”
