A spokesman said the Republican presidential candidate discussed "at length Israel's successful experience with a security fence that helped secure its borders" during an hour-long meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israel says it built its barrier, which is a fence of most of its length, to protect its citizens against suicide bombings. Trump has promised to build a concrete wall as high as 55ft along the nearly 2,000-mile border between the US and Mexico.
Trump also gave his support for Israel's controversial ambition to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, added his team. The Republican reportedly "acknowledged that Jerusalem has been the eternal capital of the Jewish people for over 3,000 years".
Netanyahu also met Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton, who "stressed that a strong and secure Israel is vital to the United States because we share overarching strategic interests and the common values of democracy, equality, tolerance, and pluralism", said a campaign spokesperson.
She also reaffirmed her support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine dispute "that guarantees Israel's future as a secure and democratic Jewish state with recognized borders and provides the Palestinians with independence, sovereignty, and dignity".
