NEWCASTLE UNITED will not sack manager Alan Pardew after his apparent headbutt on Hull City player David Meyler on Saturday, but he may end up missing the rest of the season if the FA hands him a touchline, or even stadium, ban. The club have already fined Pardew £100,000 and given him a formal warning over the incident and must now wait to see what punishment the FA dishes out. There have been calls for a ten-match ban, which would mean Pardew would not be able to return to the dugout for the rest of the season. Counting against Pardew could be his previous record. Here are some highlights from a volatile career.
Pardew vs Arsene Wenger, 2006
Back in 2006 Pardew was in charge of West Ham, and couldn't contain himself after Marlon Harewood scored a late winner against the Gunners. His celebrations did not go down well with Arsene Wenger however and the pair squared up and exchanged shoves before being pulled apart. "It was nothing personal, I was celebrating the goal," said Pardew afterwards. "Arsene seemed to have a problem with that, probably rightly."

Pardew vs Martin O'Neill, 2012
Another over-zealous touchline celebration almost led to a punch-up with then Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill in March 2012. This time he was celebrating an equaliser in the North East derby when things flared up. Rather than trying to smooth things over Pardew subsequently accused Sunderland of playing "ugly".

There is little at stake in the opening weeks of the season, but that did not stop Pardew losing his cool on the first day of the 2012/13 campaign as Newcastle faced Spurs. As he berated one of the linesmen, Peter Kirkup, Pardew committed the cardinal sin of pushing him. He was sent to the stands and later admitted that his behaviour had been "ridiculous".
Pardew vs Manuel Pellegrini, 2013
The Newcastle manager was in trouble again earlier this year when he got into a row with Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini, who took exception to Pardew's incessant complaints after the Magpies had a goal ruled out for a dubious offside. When the pair eventually got to discuss the matter Pardew could clearly be seen calling the veteran Chilean manager a "f***ing old c***". Once again he was contrite afterwards. "I've apologised to him and I'm fortunate that he's accepted that," said Pardew.
