Today’s front pages: Sri Lanka’s tragedy

The majority of today’s front pages were devoted to the unfolding aftermath of the Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka.

“A nation broken,” said the Daily Mirror, while The Times’ led with an image from the funeral of three family members all killed in the attack.

As the island nation continues to mourn, the government is coming under increasing scrutiny over what Metro’s front page terms “bungles chances to stop carnage”, after it emerged that authorities were warned that jihadis were plotting a terror attack two weeks earlier.

Among the newspapers who took their lead closer to home, The Daily Mail gave its front page to shops using cameras to track customer behaviour. The Daily Telegraph led on changes to protect NHS whistleblowers, while The Scotsman focussed on soaring autism diagnosis rates north of the border.
