Super Bowl LIII reactions: Patriots and ‘GOAT’ Tom Brady win sixth NFL title
New England fans party in Boston after 13-3 victory over the LA Rams
The New England Patriots have won Super Bowl LIII after beating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Atlanta this morning.
It was a milestone match for the Patriots as they and quarterback Tom Brady secured a sixth NFL title, equalling the record set by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
At 66-years-old Bill Belichick, New England’s legendary head coach, is the oldest and most successful coach in Super Bowl history with six wins. Philly.com called the win over the Rams “Belichick’s greatest achievement”.

For Brady, 41, he also became the first NFL player to win a sixth Super Bowl. His latest victory puts no doubts of the claim that he is the greatest of all time (GOAT).
“It was an unbelievable year, we fought through it more than anything,” said Brady. “They [the Rams] played so well, their defence was great, they made it tough on every play.
“We finally got a touchdown and our defence had a game of the year. We have been this far and lost and it’s really tough. I wish we had played better on offence but we won, I can’t believe it.”
Low scoring
During the match at the impressive Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta Patriots head coach Belichick put on a “defensive masterclass”, the BBC reports, as his side stifled the Rams’ attack.
In what was the lowest-scoring Super Bowl of all time, the Patriots struck first in the second quarter to lead 3-0 thanks to Stephen Gostkowski’s 42-yard field goal.
LA levelled the scores through Greg Zuerlein’s 53-yard field goal, but with seven minutes remaining the Patriots struck with Sony Michel’s touchdown. Gostkowski added a late field goal to seal the 13-3 win for the Patriots.
Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, 32, was named the Super Bowl’s most-valuable player (MVP).
GOAT will play on
Despite a record sixth Super Bowl ring and talk of retirement Brady insists that he will play on for the Patriots. He has previously expressed a desire to play until he’s 45, Yahoo reports.
Joined by his children in the post-match interviews, Brady was asked what would motivate him to come back next year. He pointed to the Patriots fans who packed the stadium to support their team, and said: “Look at this. How can this not motivate you? This is what it’s all about.”
Brady’s on-field achievements were celebrated by fans, fellow sports stars, media and celebrities alike.
Patriots party in Boston
While their team celebrated in Atlanta, for Patriots fans the party was taking place in Boston.
