Vet jailed for using puppies as drug mules

A Colombian veterinarian has been sentenced to six years in prison for his part in a scheme to import heroin into the US by stitching vials of the drug inside puppies. Andres Lopez Elorez was arrested in Spain and extradited to the US to face the charges. One of the puppies went on to be trained as a drug-detection dog, named Heroina.
Armed robber steals chicken, not cash
An armed robber who was unable to open the cash register at a Popeyes chicken restaurant has fled the scene with an armload of food instead. Phillip Lee, 27, allegedly walked into Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in New Orleans, initially demanding cash. He was caught nearby and charged with a string of offences.

Courthouse cleared by bug-infested lawyer
An Oklahoma courthouse was evacuated after a lawyer arrived at a courtroom covered in an “abundance” of bed bugs. Another person in the courthouse was the first to notice the man had the blood-sucking insects on his neck, and a quick search of the man’s clothing revealed a large number of them all throughout his clothing.
