The last time the city of Cleveland won a major sports title, an entire 63 percent of the city's population hadn't even been born yet and fewer than 4 percent of those who had been were actually living in the city. In other words, the Cavaliers' win over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night was a victory more than 50 years in the making.
You can hear that victory best in the voices of the people who call the Forest City home — such as these WJW Fox Cleveland newscasters, when they made the announcement on air that the Cavs had won the NBA Finals:
Cleveland's curse is officially broken — and Golden State has their own to contend with now.
