Al-fresco dining in the capital: The best summer terraces
Make the most of the British summer with a table and a tipple at one of these top outdoor London spots
Cinnamon Soho
The eco-conscious should head to Cinnamon Soho, where chef-patron Vivek Singh has teamed up with top mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana – aka Mr Lyan – for its green summer terrace. The latter's sustainable cocktails extract the maximum flavour from discarded ingredients, turning watermelon rinds, pistachio shells and leftover chai into delicious creations served in repurposed milk bottles. Singh's signature street food is similarly plated using recycled dishes, and for the occasion he has put together a special menu featuring tempting small plates loaded with chaats and other spiced snacks.

Veneta
While some of the capital's restaurants spill out onto busy streets, this civilised spot in pedestrianised St James's Market provides a relaxing escape. People-watch on the terrace while sampling your way through the restaurant's extensive selection of handpicked vermouths and other aperitifs, and between 5pm and 7pm take advantage of its aperitivo hour where, in true Italian style, your choice of Aperol Spritz or Americano comes served with an assortment of bar snacks provided free of charge.

Sartoria
Sartoria has looked to the sun-kissed coast of southwestern Italy for the inspiration behind its seasonal pop-up. Set to become the place to head for a post-work aperitivo, the restaurant has teamed up with Martini to offer a number of limited-run cocktails, from the Royal Ascot Fruit Cap – a light mix of vermouth, Pimm's and tonic water – to the Sartoria Sour. The drinks are best enjoyed with a selection of cicchetti, and here chef Francesco Mazzei has looked to the cuisine of the Sorrentine Peninsula to create vibrant dishes of red shrimp, tuna tartare and cured duck and cherries.

The Good Egg
A neighbourhood favourite in Stoke Newington, The Good Egg will be tempting Londoners north this summer with its garden terrace. Transporting diners to the bustling al fresco eating spots of Tel Aviv, its all-day menu offers a vibrant and creative take on Jewish cuisine, using the best of local and seasonal British produce. Take in a leisurely brunch and share small plates of whipped feta with apricot and grilled merguez sausage with one of its popular babka cakes to finish, or head over on weekday evenings where for £10 you can enjoy a cocktail served with house snacks such as za’atar gribenes or chilli and garlic marinated olives.
Cocktail deal runs from 4pm until 6pm on weekdays; thegoodeggn16.com
