Seven best parks in London for a picnic
Grab the strawberries and sausage rolls - there is still time for an alfresco feast
After the hottest summer on record, the warm weather is expected to stay put until October - so there is still plenty of time for a picnic. Here are seven of the best parks in London for a perfect outdoor spread.
Primrose Hill
For a picnic with a view, head to Primrose Hill. The towering skyline is laid out in front of you, so you get a taste of both the city and its greenery at once. Not to mention, London Zoo is next door, so it makes a great location for the whole family.

Kew Gardens
Tuck into a sandwich in a stunning botanical garden at Kew, an ideal date spot. There’s even a specifically designated picnic area near Brentford Gate. It boasts the most diverse living plant collection in the world, and is also a World Heritage site.
Richmond Park
This park spans more than 2,500 acres (the largest of the Royal Parks), so you will definitely be able to find a private spot. The park is home to an abundance of wildlife too, so keep an eye out for deer, birds, beetles, bumblebees and more.
Greenwich Park
London’s oldest Royal Park, Greenwich, offers wonderful picnic spots on top of its hill, giving you picturesque views of the Thames and central London.
Crystal Palace Park
Set up a romantic picnic next to the lake or next to the dinosaur sculptures, which have been there since the park opened in the 1850s.
Hampstead Heath
If you fancy a swim before your picnic, Hampstead Heath is a great option. Not to mention, the view over London from the top of Parliament Hill is spectacular. Or, eat in the shadow of the Kenwood House, also a great location for a picnic.
Hyde Park
London’s most well-known green space, Hyde Park offers plenty to do. Row on the Serpentine, swim in the lido or go horse riding in the park's specialist arena to work up an appetite.
