Man City transfer news: Virgil van Dijk deal worth £180k a week
02 June
The Sky Blues are manoeuvring into position to blow Chelsea and Liverpool out of the water in the battle to sign Southampton centre-half Virgil van Dijk.
Several clubs have been linked with Van Dijk in recent months, with Liverpool at one time in pole position, but the Netherlands international has apparently had his head turned by City's interest, and Metro says that the Sky Blues will offer Van Dijk a five-year contract worth £180,000 per week.

With John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi failing to cut the mustard and Vincent Kompany increasingly injury prone, the City gaffer sees Van Dijk as the man to bolster his back four next season.
Meanwhile it's Manchester United who City will have to see off if they want to sign Italy Under-17 youth star Pietro Pellegri, says Talksport, with the broadcaster claiming that the two clubs both fancy a bit of the 16-year-old Genoa striker. Juventus are also interested but according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, City and United scouts "have sent back glowing reports on Pellegri" and both are expected to table imminent bids to Genoa.
Newcastle have joined the chase for City defender Eliaquim Mangala, reports the Daily Star. The newly-promoted Magpies recognise that they need to strengthen ahead of next season's Premier League and boss Rafa Benitez has identified the 26-year-old Mangala as a good fit for the club.
But he'll face competition from Spanish side Valencia, where Mangala spent last season on loan, and the Star says it will come down to which club is prepared to meet City's £18m asking price. And apparently Newcastle are also interested in City midfielder Fernando with Benitez looking to make a double swoop this month.
Finally, Yaya Toure has ended speculation that his City career might be at an end by signing a new one-year deal with the club. In announcing the news, the official City website quoted director of football Txiki Begiristain describing the midfield powerhouse as "one of our most experienced and popular players". As for Toure, he said of the new deal: "When I received a call from Txiki and talked to the manager I was very delighted."

Man City transfer news: Liverpool pounce for Gael Clichy
31 May
Gael Clichy has been clearing his locker at the Eithad this week, but has the French left-back already found a new club? According to the Daily Mirror, Clichy "is in talks with Liverpool to sign a two-year deal" and the transaction could be completed by the end of this week.
Clichy, Pablo Zabeleta and Bacary Sagna were all released last week by Pep Guardiola as the Sky Blues gaffer looks to rebuild his squad and while Paris Saint-Germain are known to be interested in the former Arsenal defender, the Mirror claims that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has earmarked Clichy as a summer purchase having been forced to use James Milner at left-back last season.
Meanwhile Goal.com reports that the Sky Blues have been beaten by Barcelona to the hand of Lazar Carevic. The 18-year-old Montenegrin goalkeeper has been in fine fettle for the mighty OFK Grbalj this season, and Pep Guardiola was known to have had the youngster checked out having first noticed him when in charge of Bayern Munich.
But Goal.com says that Barcelona have nipped in ahead of their English rivals to sign the Montenegro youth international.
Man City transfer news: Record £43m deal for keeper Ederson
30 May
It may have been a bank holiday in Britain on Monday but it was business as usual at the Etihad with The Sun reporting that the Sky Blues welcomed Benfica keeper Ederson to the club.
Apparently City are in talks with the 23-year-old "over a £43m switch" and if all goes well, Ederson will undergo a medical today before penning a deal once he's been given the all-clear from City's quacks. According to the Sun the young gloveman "was also targeted by rivals United" but Pep Guardiola made the first move to ensure he didn't lose out to the Red Devils.
The move, if indeed it does entail City paying Benfica £43m, will make Ederson the most expensive goalkeeper in history, eclipsing Gianluigi Buffon's £32m switch to Juventus. The Brazilian, yet to make a full senior appearance for his country, will replace Willy Caballero, expected to leave the Etihad before the end of the week.
And another gloveman who's been told he won't be seeing the green, green grass of the Etihad again is Joe Hart. The Sun says that the 30-year-old England keeper has confirmed to pals he won't be returning to City and he's also not wanted by Torino after a gaffe-strewn loan spell between the sticks for the Italians.
Hart let in another three goals at the weekend, making it 62 in 36 games, and the Sun says he will be sold by City for around £20m. West Ham United are believed to be the front-runners to sign Hart but the keeper has made clear he won't accept anything other than a full-time contract because a loan deal "is not the right thing for me at my age".
Man City transfer news: Exodus begins with Navas and Clichy
26 May
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has not rested on his laurels following the end of his first season at the club and has taken a pair of shears to his squad, and two of the first to be pruned from the Etihad are Jesus Navas and Gael Clichy.
In announcing the end of Navas' four-year spell at City, the club's official website said that the 31-year-old Spanish winger, who joined in the summer of 2013 from Sevilla, won't be renewing his contract.
"Working with Jesus has been a pleasure," said director of football Txiki Begiristain. "He showed his versatility numerous times this season, operating at full-back and doing so with distinction. I wish him all the very best with his next move."
According to the Manchester Evening News, Guardiola did consider offering Navas a new one-year deal but instead has "decided to go for a complete overhaul", which is why both the Spaniard and Clichy have been offloaded with Bacary Sagna also expected to be shown the door.
The MEN believes Navas will return to Sevilla to see out his career in his homeland, while the Daily Telegraph says that left-back Clichy could also go back to his roots with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
With Maxwell leaving the Ligue 1 club this summer, PSG "have placed Clichy among their targets", although the Telegraph says they will face competition from West Ham United, newly-promoted Newcastle United and Turkish club Fenerbahce for the hand of the 31-year-old French defender.
