The Ivorian midfielder has one year remaining on his Manchester City deal but the club are said to be willing to let him go for the right price. And has agent Dimitri Seluk found that price?
The Daily Mirror says that Toure, who recently turned 33, wants a club where his £220,000-a-week wages won't be a problem and that might be Inter Milan, where his old boss Roberto Mancini is gaffer.
The pair know each other from Mancini's time in charge of the Sky Blues and Seluk had this to say when asked about a possible move: "It's true, we're talking with Mancini. We're looking for a solution with Manchester City, who want to sell Yaya Toure only up front, not on loan.
And another ageing veteran on his way out of the Etihad is Martin Demichelis with ESPN reporting that the 35-year-old, who has been a Sky Blue since arriving from Atletico Madrid in September 2013, is set to return to his native Argentina.
The broadcaster says the defender "will not be offered a new deal by the club when his current contract runs out". Instead the former Bayern Munich blocker, who on Wednesday was fined for breaking Football Association betting rules, will link up with another one of his old clubs, River Plate.
As for who might be brought into the Etihad in the summer, the latest name is West Ham teenager Reece Oxford with The Sun reporting that the 17-year-old - "one of the most talked-about young English players in the Premier League" - is being linked with an £8m move to City. The paper says that Oxford has told the Hammers his continued loyalty has a price: £40,000 a week and a £1m signing-on fee.
Man City transfer news: Battle looms for Leroy Sane and Toni Kroos
17 May
When it comes to Leroy Sane the two Manchester clubs are mad for it. That's what the Daily Star says with City and United both pursuing the Schalke winger who comes with a £40m price tag.
Barcelona have also been "heavily linked" with the highly-rated 20-year-old this season but according to the Daily Mail, it was United who had their scouts watch Sane in action at the weekend against Hoffenheim.
The youngster bagged his ninth goal of the Bundesliga season and now United, not for the first time this season, are on red alert for any sign that Sane could be thinking of moving to bigger and better things.
But City have not changed their opinion of the youngster who they have earmarked as a star for the future, and Pep Guardiola is believed to have his name inked on his summer shopping list.
The Citizens are operating on all manner of fronts this summer and the Star warns that United and Chelsea should "worry" about Guardiola's determination to start spending big. The paper says he is "is eyeing Real Madrid duo Toni Kroos and Dani Carvajal", according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, news that will put noses out of joint elsewhere in the Premier League.
United have in recent months been mooted as a destination for midfielder Kroos, while Chelsea reportedly have been tracking right-back Carvajal for a number of weeks as they look to shore up their defence under Antonio Conte.
But one player who Guardiola looks set to miss out on is PSV frontman Joel Piroe. Described by Goal.com as a "wonderkid", the teenage sharpshooter has been tracked by City this season but he's set to reject a move to the Etihad. "I have been offered a contract by PSV a few weeks ago and if all goes well I will soon sign," Piroe is quoted as saying.
Man City transfer news: Arsenal raid for Wilshere and Sanchez
16 May
Arsenal may need to increase security at the Emirates in the weeks ahead because according to the Daily Mirror, Pep Guardiola is "planning a double raid" on the Gunners.
Manchester City's new manager is targeting Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere as he starts to reshape the Sky Blues in his own image, and the Arsenal duo are top of his wishlist.
The Mirror claims that Guardiola - who bowed out of Bayern Munich at the weekend by winning the Bundesliga - will arrive in England shortly and he's already "weighing up a bid" for Wilshere. The 24-year-old was linked to the Citizens 12 months ago, but though nothing came of that move they they may have more luck this time around with Arsenal said to be increasingly concerned about the midfielder's fitness.
The Mirror says City "are hoping that a £40m bid" could land Wilshere, while a similar sum will also be tabled for Sanchez. Guardiola signed Sanchez for Barcelona in 2011 and he continues to be a fan of the South American sharpshooter.
Additionally, the new City boss has identified Tottenham left-back Danny Rose as a summer target with the 25-year-old defender "seen as an ideal replacement for Aleksandar Kolarov". Everton defender John Stones is also on Guardiola's radar and the Mirror reports that he will also "press ahead with a move for Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte", despite the fact the France international is out until September with a broken ankle.
And heading out of the Etihad this summer is likely to be Pablo Zabaleta, with the Daily Mail reporting that the 31-year-old - who has been at City since 2008 - is wanted by Italian outfit Roma. "It's true Roma are strongly interested in signing Zabaleta," said his agent, Federico Pastorello. "They are following him and we'll see if it's possible to seal a transfer in the next few weeks."
Man City transfer news: Guardiola goes for Geronimo Rulli
13 May
Geronimo! That could be the cry from Pep Guardiola when he arrives at the Etihad this summer, and not because of his stated desire to establish the Sky Blues as part of the European elite.
According to Talksport, the Spanish coach "is eyeing a swoop for Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli". Though he can already count on a safe pair of hands in Joe Hart, Guardiola sees the 23-year-old Rulli as one for the future. Currently approaching the end of a two-year loan spell at Real Sociedad, the gloveman's future is uncertain with his Uruguayan parent club allegedly open to lucrative offers.
Real Sociedad have talked in the past of signing the Argentine on a long-term deal but there's no way the Spanish outfit could compete with City's riches. Spanish newspaper, AS, reports that Guardiola "has closely watched Rulli in action this season" and they predict he will table a bid in the coming weeks
Meanwhile Guardiola clearly likes the look of City youngster Bersant Celina because the Daily Mail reports that the 19-year-old attacking midfielder is poised to pen a new four-and-a-half contract "and will be a part of Guardiola's plans next season".
Celina made his first-team debut for City this season and the Mail says that if the teenager knuckles down in the coming months "he could feature regularly next season".
Man City transfer news: Ilkay Gundogan gets ultimatum
12 May
Borussia Dortmund have issued Manchester City target Ilkay Gundogan an ultimatum: either show us your loyalty, or get out.
The message comes as speculation increases that the 25-year-old midfielder is eyeing a move to the Etihad next season. According to the Daily Mirror, Gundogan, who has a little over 12 months remaining on his Dortmund contract, is one of the names on Pep Guardiola's shopping list as he prepares to replace Manuel Pellegrini in the City hot seat.
The dislocated knee that Gundogan suffered last week doesn't appear to have dampened the Sky Blues enthusiasm for the German international playmaker and that's prompted Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke to get tough.
"There are two options," declared Watzke to local rag Ruhr Nachrichten. "Either he stays and commits long-term to the club or he leaves."
Watzke insisted that the club will "stand by him" despite the injury but in return they expect similar loyalty.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Sky Blues are in competition with Arsenal for the signature of Real Madrid striker James Rodriguez.
The Colombia international isn't a regular starter under new coach Zinedine Zidane and the MEN, quoting Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, says City are "keen" on offering the 24-year-old a fresh start. Apparently Jorge Mendes, the player's agent, has had discussions with Real president Florentino Perez "in a bid to establish where his client stands". If City do make a bid for Rodriguez, the MEN predicts it will have to be in the region of £71m if it's to have any chance of success.
Man City transfer news: Key summer target prefers Barcelona
6 May
Having drawn a blank in the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, the Man City have now received more bad news from Spain with the Daily Mirror reporting that Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has expressed his wish to remain at the Camp Nou.
Pep Guardiola had earmarked the German gloveman as one of his first summer signings, but Ter Stegen has let it be known he intends to stay and fight for his place under coach Luis Enrique even though he's number two at the club behind Claudio Bravo. "I'm very happy here and I want to stay here, with the life I have," declared Ter Stegen when asked about a possible move. "It's a lovely place to live."
But might City have better luck with teenage sensation Alen Halilovic? According to Goal.com, the 19-year-old "has yet to learn if he will be retained by Barca" ahead of next season and that's perked up the Citizens who have long had their eye on the midfielder.
Halilovic has spent the season on loan at Sporting Gijon and two years after arriving at the Camp Nou from Dinamo Zagreb he's still no closer to knowing where his long-term future lies. Quizzed about what the next few weeks will hold for Halilovic, representative Zoran Stojadinovic explained that there is "real interest from two English clubs and two other Germans, all of them world-class".
Though he wouldn't names, Goal.com says that City are believed to be one of the interested parties with Pep Guardiola said to be an admirer of the youngster. But agent Stojadinovic had this message for all Halilovic's pursuers: "Barcelona will not address this issue until they finish the season."
