Chelsea and Spurs reinforced their status as the top two teams in the Premier League with commanding performances this weekend, although Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United also won.

But the top six may have been whittled down to five after Arsenal's abject defeat to Crystal Palace increased the pressure on Arsene Wenger.

Lower down the table, Everton ended Leicester's resurgence and the Toffees will now have struggling Arsenal in their sights. At the bottom, United's straightforward victory over Sunderland was another nail in their coffin.

But who were the stars of the week's action? Here's The Week's pick of the experts' picks:

Simon Mignolet (Liverpool)

"The days of Simon Mignolet playing second fiddle to Loris Karius at Liverpool seem long gone, even more so after his stunning performance against Stoke City," says ESPN. "Liverpool were made to work hard to secure their 2-1 victory on Saturday, but without some fine saves from Mignolet, particularly to deny Saido Berahino, the visitors could have left the bet365 Stadium empty-handed."

Luke Shaw (Man Utd), John Stones (Man City), Mamadou Sakho (Crystal Palace), Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)

Man Utd full back Shaw has been badly out of favour at Old Trafford but appears determined to work his way back into the team. Against Sunderland "he picked up an assist and regained Jose Mourinho's trust," says the Daily Star.

Another young English defender who caught the eye was Stones, who helped Man City beat Hull. "Stones made a game-high six interceptions for Manchester City in their 3-1 victory over the Tigers," says

On-loan Liverpool defender Sakho was instrumental as his current club Crystal Palace stunned Arsenal. His "top defending... gave the Gunners' forwards no chance", says the Star.

The final berth goes to Chelsea goalscorer Alonso. "I couldn't leave Alonso out of my team of the week having scored a goal like that," says Garth Crooks of the BBC.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace), Dele Alli, Son Heung-min (both Spurs), Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

It's an attacking midfield quartet this week, with Zaha earning his place thanks to two assists against Arsenal which caught the eye of the Star selectors and won him a place in the Fantasy Football dream team of the week.

Spurs midfielder Alli "opened the scoring and produced two key passes in Spurs's win over Watford", states He also won over Crooks of the BBC, who sees him as a potential candidate for player of the season.

His team-mate Son was top scorer with 19 Fantasy Football points this weekend. The 24-year-old also won over the ESPN panel. "Two goals and an assist are not bad at all for an afternoon's work and he could have ended up scoring four."

Chelsea star Hazard also got on the scoresheet, and produced five key passes including an assist, says

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Man Utd), Romelu Lukaku (Everton)

Two big centre forwards play up front this week. Ibrahimovic "produced a goal out of nothing", says Crooks of the BBC, and also set up Marcus Rashford for another. "You can see how his team-mates respond to his presence," he says.

Alongside the Swede, but with 13 Fantasy Football points, compared to the United star's 12, is Lukaku. "The Belgium international netted his 22nd and 23rd Premier League goals of the season on Sunday – a glancing header and back post finish – as Everton got the better of Leicester in a barnstorming affair. Lukaku now sits four clear at the top of the leading scorers after that brace," says ESPN.
