Wonder Woman spin-off: What do we know so far?
Gal Godot stars in new superhero film set during World War I and directed by Patty Jenkins
The tale of Wonder Woman, aka Amazonian warrior Diana of Themyscira, was first brought to life in a comic by William Moulton Marston in 1940. Now, 77 years later, she's back for a full-length feature film.
What's it about?
In the early 20th century, American military pilot Steve Trevor is washed ashore the Amazonian island of Themyscira, where he meets Diana, an Amazonian princess, and tells her about the impending doom of World War I. Compelled to help, Diana leaves the island and disguises herself as American civilian Diana Prince to help bring about an early end to the war.

Who's involved?
Fast & Furious star and model Gal Godot is the film's protagonist. The little-known actress surprised pundits when she beat the likes of Quantum of Solace's Olga Kurylenko and Elodie Yung to the role, but won over the hearts of DC's most fervent supporters when she appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last year.
Director Patty Jenkins is best known for Monster and the US adaptation of The Killing. She replaced Breaking Bad producer and The X-Files director Michelle MacLaren, who left the role due to "creative differences" in 2015, reports Variety.
Star Trek's Chris Pine will play Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's love interest, while Robin Wright (House of Cards) and David Thewlis (Harry Potter) will also feature in the blockbuster. Gladiator star Connie Nielsen will star as Diana's mother Queen Hippolyta.
What will it be like?
Jenkins is expected to pay homage to creator Marston's comic, with a period setting. She told Hollywood Reporter: "Our film really draws from the original Wonder Woman comic book by William Moulton Marston. The goal was to tap into what always spoke to me about her – to honour who she was, her legacy, and to make her as universal as she was to all of us little girls who ran around pretending to be Lynda Carter [the original actress who played Wonder Woman] when we were kids."
Godot says the movie will be "pretty dark".
