Speaking of bespoke: Where to go for unique fashion
From embroidered jackets to monogrammed scarves and suitcases made to order, options for customisation are limitless
Tod's
Classic Italian brand Tod's has introduced a new feature to its website and boutiques worldwide, giving customers the option to design their own custom-made pair of its popular Gommino shoe. From the comfort of your own home – or wherever you have internet access – experiment with a variety of colour combinations, leathers, stitching and linings. There is even the option to alter the pebble sole. A key feature of this service is to have your initials hot-stamped into the shoe, ensuring your pair is truly unique.

Gucci
Gucci's popular DIY service has now entered its second wave. The introduction of the punk-inspired customisation service began in the Via Montenapoleone flagship store in Milan, but has since expanded to a range of Gucci boutiques worldwide, including a collaboration with Harrods. All areas are covered, with it encompassing an expansive selection of denim, silk, tailored, and leather jackets that can be adorned in-store with symbolic patterns, designs and fonts taken from the fashion house's latest collection
Hand-painted motifs and heavily-studded designs are also available on a range of products including silk bombers and Japanese denim. Although the level of customisation available depends on the product in question, the choice of how to interpret creative director Alessandro Michele's vision is left in the hands of the customer.
Burberry
The iconic British brand has recently expanded its monogramming service, adding personalisation options for customers purchasing its cashmere scarves and small accessories. A household name in the world of cashmere, its acclaimed scarves are crafted using the finest materials in long-established Scottish factories, and are now available in over thirty colour options, including the traditional heritage shades. There's also the option to personalise other items, including the iconic heritage trench coat, rucksacks, ponchos, fragrances and leather goods, online and in-store.
Globe-Trotter
Favoured by the royals, adventurers and even James Bond, for more than a century Globe-Trotter has built a reputation for unparralled, hardwearing luggage. But if you can't find something to suit in its ready-made collections, it offers plenty of ways for customers to participate personally in the design process.
Its made-to-order service allows you to pick from a selection of its signature vulcanised fibreboards, leather colours, metal finishes and linings, while bespoke offers even more options to choose from. For a higher degree of customisation, Globe-Trotter's design and build option takes you through a journey of craftsmanship, where discussions of size, shape or internal compartments are just the tip of the iceberg. All Globe-Trotter products are made by hand in its English factories, and customisation services are available by appointment only.
