Ten Trinity Square and London's other best new private members' clubs
A new breed of private clubs are opening in the City, choosing east over west London, with Ten Trinity Square the latest addition
London's private members' clubs have come a long way from the stuffy, men-only institutions of old. Alongside loosened dress codes and diversified memberships has come a migration away from the Mayfair heartlands to further reaches of the capital, each with its own distinct clientele to match. No more so is this true than in the City, with a recent spate of new openings proving those in the financial district are more than happy to mix pleasure with business.
Among those grabbing the headlines is The Ned. Housed in the majestic former headquarters of the Midland Bank, it mixes jaw-dropping grandeur with the laidback luxury typical of Soho House, whose other clubs include the nearby creative hub, Shoreditch House. It joins the likes of The Devonshire Club, whose spacious five floors sprawl across a large Georgian townhouse and the former warehouse of the East India Company, with members able to take advantage of its well-equipped gym and yoga studio as well as an extensive programme of cultural events.
The latest addition to the neighbourhood has recently opened its doors in Ten Trinity Square, located in the Grade II-listed former headquarters of the Port of London Authority. Shaped around the original boardrooms and executive offices, the club channels its historic surrounds, with cosy and opulent wood panelling, ornate fireplaces and chandeliers.

The Club shares its home with the Four Season's Hotel, which has its benefits: cuisine comes courtesy of on-site La Dame de Pic, which has picked up a Michelin star within its first year of opening, while members can relax in the expansive spa, complete with indoor swimming pool, hammam, steam room and high-tech fitness centre.
However, it is of course the exclusive benefits that will prove the real draw. Among them is the first Chateau Latour Discovery Room outside of France, offering guests the chance to sample the acclaimed vineyard's wines, curated by award-winning sommelier Jan Konetzki in a tailored experience. Similarly, expert Paola Paolillo, the only female Master of Havana cigars, is on hand to advise members in the cigar-sampling lounge, including offering an extensive range of pairings with cognac and whisky.
"This will be somewhere that members can meet in a relaxed setting and enjoy outstanding food and wine in beautiful surrounds," said general manager Nigel Stowe. "We want this to be a place of purpose – a sanctuary for outstanding individuals to share ideas and aspirations."
