Mourinho and Pogba have not seen eye-to-eye this season but the French midfielder is set to start tonight after being a substitute in United’s previous two games.

Quoted by the BBC, Mourinho said: “I’m looking for him [Pogba] to play well and to have a good impact in the game and a good impact in the team - a team with many players that don’t have many miles on their legs.”

Group H permutations

  • Tonight’s fixtures: Valencia vs. Man Utd; Young Boys vs. Juventus
  • Qualified teams: Juventus and Man Utd
  • Juventus will finish top if they win or Man Utd do not gain victory
  • Man Utd will finish top if they win and Juventus do not
  • Valencia will transfer to the Uefa Europa League round of 32
  • Young Boys will finish fourth

Team news and possible starting XIs

Valencia team news

The Spanish side will be without Jose Gaya because of suspension while star forward Goncalo Guedes is an injury doubt.

Man Utd team news

Goalkeeper David De Gea and midfielder Nemanja Matic have not travelled while defender Victor Lindelof and forward Alexis Sanchez remain on the injury list.

The Daily Mirror says that Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling were also not seen on the flight to Spain. Pogba, Sergio Romero and Andreas Pereira are set to start.

Academy players James Garner and Mason Greenwood, both 17, have travelled. Mourinho has confirmed that Garner will be on the bench and Greenwood will be back-up for the squad.

Mourinho said: “The kids won’t start the match. Garner will be on the bench, and Mason is the protection player, in case we have any injuries.”
